A patient information tool designed for pregnant patients undergoing testing to rule out PE may complement providers’ counselling and improve patient experience. Prior to developing the tool, we performed a needs assessment from a provider’s perspective as part of a quality improvement initiative. We conducted a focus group with a multidisciplinary panel (including experts in maternal-fetal medicine, obstetric medicine, thrombosis medicine, general internal medicine, radiology, nursing, and emergency medicine). Questions and prompts were based on a prior literature review. Discussions were recorded and transcribed, and a thematic analysis was performed to extract codes and themes/sub-themes. The results of the focus group are hereby summarized.
