Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) affect 10% to 15% of women. Death by
suicide was the cause of 7.5% of late maternal deaths in Canada between 2013 and 2017,
representing over half of late maternal deaths with pregnancy-related causes in that
timeframe.
