      Abstract

Objective: this article will review recent developments in the medical and surgical therapy of endometriosis. Changes in auto-immune function in endometriosis are briefly outlined.
Data Sources: major publications of infertility treatment and investigation, predominantly Human Reproduction and Fertility and Sterility, as well as the proceedings of the World Congresses in Endometriosis (1992–94).
Study Selection: one laparoscopic surgical study and one diagnostic study are included due to the innovative study design and the significance of the findings. Four medical therapy studies are reviewed for new treatments of chronic pain and long-term management options. Eleven papers on the relationship of auto-immune regulation and dysfunction in erdometriosis are included for the novelty of the data.
Conclusion: staying up to date in this fast moving field, is difficult, and this review article attempts to summarize the new topics.
